Balanced / Single-Ended Preamplifier NFCA
Topping's Pre90 is a high-performance preamplifier based on a fully balanced circuit and high-performance NFCA modules. It also benefits from a high quality volume attenuator and easy control, thanks to its front panel display.
It is an instrument grade, more transparent than transparent, preamplifier. Other than Benchmark HPA4, I don't think it has an equal no matter how much money you spend. In that regard, it is quite a value as well although obviously not cheap as compared to desktop products.
At the heart of the Pre90 are NFCA (Nested Feedback Composite Amplifier) modules, similar to those integrated in the excellent Topping A90. This hybrid voltage/current architecture combined with UFGF (Ultra High Gain Feedback) technology offers excellent DC and AC performance. The Pre90 has an ultra low noise level of 0.3µV and an incredible dynamic range of 145dB, to provide accurate, immersive and rich sound reproduction.
The Pre90 adopts a fully symmetrical structure, allowing both symmetrical and asymmetrical signals to be processed. The output can thus be balanced, unbalanced, or a combination of the two options. In addition, with its balanced and unbalanced inputs, the Pre90 can be used to convert balanced to unbalanced or, conversely, unbalanced to balanced.
With a maximum gain of +16dB, the Topping Pre90 can easily amplify weak input signals to an acceptable level to deliver to your amplifier. In addition, its 0.3µVrms noise level is extremely low, so the Pre90 does not add any audible noise during signal amplification.
Using a number of high-quality Japanese relays for its volume control, the Pre90 allows precise adjustment of the sound level, while maintaining perfect channel balance. In addition, if the volume level was high when the unit was turned off, the Pre90 will automatically reduce the sound level the next time it is turned on to preserve your audio system and hearing. It is also possible to use and adjust the Safe Volume function, which allows you to indicate a maximum volume level (this function can be deactivated).
The Pre90 offers a balanced XLR input and an unbalanced RCA input. The Ext90 is the perfect companion to the Pre90, providing two unbalanced RCA inputs and a total of four balanced XLR inputs. Ideal for a multi-source system.
The Topping Pre90 allows you to select the active output. It can be set to XLR only, RCA only or XLR+RCA. Thus, the amplified signal can be sent to two different amplifiers.
The Pre90 has an independent volume memory for each input or output. When several inputs with different levels are connected, changing the active input often requires readjusting the volume level . The volume memory thus allows automatic adjustment to the last saved parameter for each input. It is possible to choose to use this memory for the outputs, in order to adapt the level according to the destination amplifiers.
The Pre90 can only store either the input volume or the output volume, but not both at the same time.

- Pentru performante optime este necesara pozitionarea boxelor la o distanta de minim 30-40cm de peretele din spate pentru boxele cu bass-reflex in spate, pentru cele cu bass-reflex in fata, recomandam pozitionarea la o distanta de 10-20cm fata de peretele din spate.
- Boxele vor ajunge sa functioneze in parametrii recomandati de producator, dupa minim 50 de ore (ideal 100 ore) de functionare la volum mediu. In aceasta perioada de timp, de “rodaj a boxelor”, sunetul va fi la inceput ceva mai artificial, bass-ul nu va fi inca controlat, inaltele rigide iar vocile usor retinute, pe masura ce boxele vor functiona, veti remarca cum bas-ul devine mai controlat, mai prezent si mai voluminos, vocile si sunetele medii devin naturale si mai echilibrate, iar inaltele devin rafinate si detaliate. Exista boxe care necesita un „rodaj” mai amplu de minim 300 de ore mai ales in cazul celor care au difuzoare de kevlar, carbon sau alte materiale de acest tip. Boxele care se „rodeaza” cel mai repede sunt cele care au difuzoare de celuloza.
- Pentru performante optime este necesar „rodarea” echipamentului, In functie de complexitatea componentelor din aparatul dumneavoastra acesta poate dura intre 30-200 ore.
- Rodajul se face la volum minim, fiind astfel suficient faptul ca acesta este alimentat corect conform manualului de utilizare la 220-230 Volti si trece semnal audio sau video dupa caz prin el.
